Rhian Pyart - M.Ost
Osteopath

Availability:
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

General Practice:
Adults, children (5+).

  • Rhian has spent the last 6 years running her own clinic in west sussex before relocating to Devon with her Family.

‘I often find osteopathy can offer the most simple solution to aches and pains. I like problem-solving to create treatment plans with patients that create lasting results and empower and engage people to attain their goals. Whether simply to be able to play with grandchildren or achieve a personal best.  I like to retest in the treatment room to see how things may look or feel different.

I like a wide range of treatment styles from massage and articulation to dry needling or cranial osteopathy. Learning about all the different styles in postgraduate courses has been a fantastic experience, I became a yoga teacher to get to grips with stretches and breathing mechanics.

I like the luxury of time I get with my patients compared to NHS services, knowing my clients helps me pick up when something isn't right and needs a referral or simply makes for a very pleasant and fun treatment.’

Rhian holds a masters Osteopathy degree with the British School of Osteopathy, 2011.

Ellie King - M.Ost
Osteopath

Availability:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

General Practice:
Adults, children and babies.

  • Ellie received osteopathic treatment at a young age and it was this that inspired her to study osteopathy

‘I have a firm belief in guiding the body to restore its own vitality & health, I like to create tailored treatment plans to make sure each patient is addressed as an individual. My special interest is helping patients with systemic/widespread issues requiring a holistic approach. I have found my post-graduate training in Classical Osteopathy really helps in this field. My voluntary work in a children's center has honed my cranial Osteopathy treatments for children and babies.’

Ellie lives in Braunton, and enjoys all that Devon has to offer and has an active lifestyle, including surfing and hiking. She has attended courses on sport biomechanics and has experience treating a number of sporting injuries. She enjoys working with athletes to resolve any problems with fitness or health.

Ellie holds a masters Osteopathy degree with the British School of Osteopathy, 2011.

Lisa Flynn - D.O
Osteopath

Availability:
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday

General Practice:
Adults, children (5+).

  • Lisa has been an osteopath in north Devon for 32 years.

‘I like to treat my patients in a holistic way, looking at the body as a whole, using soft tissue technique and articulation to increase the range of movement in painful joints, making my treatment plans unique to each patient with their individual symptoms. I also treat more subtly using cranial technique which can identify tension throughout the body and within the cranium. This tension can be as a result of a past trauma or indeed stress related and it changes the rhythmical pattern of the bodies tissues. Subtle pressure can release this tension and restore the tissues to normality. I treat a variety of ages ranging from babies to the elderly deciding which method of treatment is most appropriate for their age and symptoms.’

Lisa is active in the wider osteopathic community, working as a Secretary for the Western Counties Society of Osteopaths which involves sourcing speakers for, and organizing conferences ... which keeps her extremely busy!

Lisa holds her Osteopathy diploma from the European School of Osteopathy, 1987.

  • A small bit about cranial Osteopathy;

“Cranial osteopaths are trained to feel the Involuntary Mechanism, a very subtle, rhythmical change that is present in all body tissues. The movement is of very small amplitude, therefore it takes practitioners with a very finely developed sense of touch to feel it. This rhythm was first described by Dr. William G. Sutherland and its existence was confirmed in a series of laboratory tests in the 1960’s and 1970’s. Tension in the body disrupts the rhythmical motion expressed in the body tissues. Practitioners compare what your rhythm is doing to what they consider ideal. This shows them what stresses and strains your body is under at present, and what tensions it may be carrying as a result of its past history. It also gives them an insight into the overall condition of your body, for example, if it is healthy, or stressed and tired.”

    We support PLAN

As a female lead business we have chosen to help another girl. We are sponsors of a young girl helping to keep her in education in Burma. We will be supporting her into her adulthood.

What to Expect During Your Visit

In your first consultation we will take your case history, this will involve some questioning about your current symptoms, medical history, traumas & lifestyle. Some patients prefer to bring any prescription lists and medical imaging that they have with them.

You will have plenty of time to discuss your situation and ask as many questions as you’d like.

The next step is the physical examination, which will be observing the body in motion. You will be asked to perform some simple movements so we can build on our diagnosis. This is where some people remove some items of clothing and others wear top/ leggings/shorts.

Special testing such as blood pressure or orthopaedic testing now happens.

We will explain in simple terms what we have found and what that means for your problem or goal.  Provided you are happy we proceed to treatment.

Treatments are tailored to each individual and may involve massage, mobilisation, cranial, myofascial release and more.

We then discuss aftercare, the changes you can make, and we may send you videos of rehabilitation exercises.

We want you to be happy, relaxed & enjoy your experience with us, so do ask questions, or raise concerns at any point in your consultation.
